For
valves that tend to stick or are otherwise difficult to operate, or
in those cases where fail-safe operation is critical, the RotoHammer
M-Series Impact Operator is recommended. Its function is to deliver
a quick measured blow, similar to that of a hammer striking an anvil,
to either open or close the valve. M-Series models may be chain or
handwheel operated (as shown above). Clamp-on or direct mount (adapter)
versions are available.
Depending
on the style chosen, i.e., Universal Clamp-On or Direct Mount Adapter,
the Anvil (D) is attached to the valve's handwheel or to the adapter
plate replacing the handwheel. Using either the hand or chain model,
the operator rotates the hammer (A) which is free to move over a 180-degree
arc. The hammer (A) will stop when one of its two opposing lugs (B)
strikes the stationary anvil (D). AT THE MOMENT OF IMPACT THE TORQUE(FORCE)
REQUIRED TO EITHER SEAT OR UNSEAT THE VALVE IS INSTANTANEOUSLY APPLIED.
